The key objectives of the Epilepsy South Africa Eastern Cape Satellite Office are as follow:
- To address the advocacy needs of people with epilepsy.
- To provide advocacy training for people with epilepsy.
- To provide epilepsy training and awareness within all sectors of society in partnership with REHAB.
- To facilitate entrepreneurial development training and programmes, including SIYB (Start and Improve Your Business) training.
- To facilitate SMME development programmes, including the establishment of vegetable gardens in some of the areas of the Amathole Region.
- To plan, establish and develop income generation programmes.
- To provide social development services to people with epilepsy in partnership with REHAB.
In March 2010 a contract was signed between Epilepsy South Africa National Office and REHAB. It was agreed that REHAB will provide counseling, information and other social development services to people with epilepsy. REHAB will also create awareness and give information about epilepsy and other disabilities. Epilepsy South Africa National Office will provide information and training about epilepsy to REHAB staff members and volunteers.
